Blurred Vision has been whipping up a storm this year with a cover of Pink Floyd’s Another Brick In The Wall and now they are back with their new EP Democracy.
And the six tracks on Democracy could really put this band on the map as they are not afraid to air their feelings and political views through their music.
Hammer Shaped Scar Part 1 is the opening track on the EP and it starts with a fantastic piano solo and it is one of the best tracks in this collection.
The opening does make it seem that this is going to be a rock ballad but sixty seconds in the guitars really kick in and up the tempo of the track.
There is a great melody to this track and it is one of those songs that you just know will sound totally awesome live - the guitar solo in the middle of the track is a particular highlight.
Famous Las Words may only last one minute and fifty seven seconds but it is a hypnotic mix of sounds that offers a brief moment to breath before the next track kicks in.
Hammer Shaped Scar Part 2 is a track that has a real soul to it and the first sixty second or so it a mix of deep guitar sounds and rich.
Ass the track progresses there is perhaps more of a haunting and emotional sound compared to Part 1 of this song.
Dear John is an ode to John Lennon as the band tells the assassinated Beatle about the ‘madness’ of the world today.
Despite the rather sombre nature of the subject matter this is actually quite an uplifting track as we remember the ideas of peace and love that Lennon stood for and fought for during his life.
The band revert to a heavier rock sound with their final track Democracy in what is really a social commentary about society as they sing ‘the world ain’t what it should be’.
It is songs like this that has put the band on the map this year as they are not afraid to speck their minds and this is a hard hitting track that really does deliver a powerful message.
Democracy is a great collection of tracks from the band as the show their rock side as well as a softer side to their music.
Blurred Vision are a band that many people are already talking about and with Democracy that have made a real statement of intent as they have put together a collection of great and memorable tracks.
It is going to be exciting to see what they do next.
