You Me At Six are set to continue their rise up the rock ranks with their latest album Sinners Never Sleep.
Slightly darker than their first two albums, it feels like a completely natural progression without ever seeming like a departure.
Of their three studio albums to date, it's more than tempting to call this their best.
Packed with big tunes, it kicks off brilliantly with lead single 'Loverboy', and never lets up.
Admittedly, yes, there are changes of pace and the album has it's slower moments (like 'This Is The First Thing'), but the quality and passion keeps going for the entirity of Sinners Never Sleep.
The sound is polished without losing its edge, and production-wise this may be the best You Me At Six have put out so far.
In their able hands, ideas that would otherwise feel cliched (power-pop ballad 'No One Does It Better', for instance) have small moments to make it less predictable.
From harmonies to nice little guitar licks, the album throw up a lot to keep things interesting without deviating too much from what is expected from You Me At Six.
Essentially, this feels like the culmination of what they've done to this point - they've taken what they've learnt and created a brilliant record.
The band also show their heavier moments on songs like 'Time Is Money' and 'Bite My Tongue', the former feeling less pop-rock and more post-hardcore.
Further emphasising this is growled, Funeral For A Friend-esque aggressive vocals and a very heavy breakdown to end 'Time Is Money' in a fantastic way.
The leaning towards a heavier, live-sounding style is a welcome shift for You Me At Six as they get closer to matching their live energy on record.
Also admirable is the ease with which they switch from raw, heavy moments to tender ballads, as they slide beautifully into the stunning 'Little Bit of Truth'.
On Sinners Never Sleep, You Me At Six have really found their sound, and produced a stunningly smooth but diverse record.
Further strengthening the record is that, even with the different styles explored here, You Me At Six do them all so well.
With this record coming out on Monday, they look set to become one of the UK's biggest and best rock acts.
