Brave is the only word to describe a band that mix reggae with indie pop, but by some kind of miracle Will And The People carry the odd combo off masterfully.
Soon to support Girls Aloud on a tour of the UK, these up-and-coming melancholic misfits are set to provide a refreshing soundtrack to our summer - if we have one that is.
One thing is for certain; lead singer Will E-Rendle has an immediately captivating aura.
His sleek falsetto vocals bring Thom Yorke to mind, but placed on top of such thick layers of pop gloss it soon becomes clear that Maroon5 would be much closer by comparison than Radiohead.
Complete with a creepy howling sound that wobbles throughout, the band's debut single is a spookily good blend of The Specials' Ghost Town and Jeff Buckley's Grace.
This is shamelessly over-produced pop music that's so different it shouldn't work - but it does.
