Artist: The Blueveils
Album: Out Of The Blue EP
Rating: 4/5
The Blueveils have already been causing a stir on the live scene and now the London five piece have released their new EP Out Of The Blue.
I Am Karma is the opening song on the EP and it is an energetic and pulsating track that immediately grabs your attention and holds it through the entire track.
There is a real anthemic feel to this track as the great guitar work really drives it forward - it really is the bass and the hooks that take centre stage on this track rather than the vocal.
But Will Jackson has an incredibly interesting vocal as he brings real rawness and emotion to ach song without ever having to do anything fancy or over the top with his voice.
He is a very laid back kind of singer and yet he injects a real energy and pace into each song with real ease.
Come My Way is next and it is perhaps an edgier track than I Am Karma and this is perhaps one of the songs that really shows off the band’s potential.
The guitars really rage on throughout this track and there is a real attitude to the beat that they create as well as the vocal.
The Blueveils have changed the pace with Dirty Tricks as they move away the energetic upbeat rock sound of earlier tracks to a more acoustic driven melodic sound.
And it is something that worked really well as the band show off a subtler side to their song writing as well as the vocal.
This is a beautifully crafted track that is once again packed with emotion and the strings that feature are a great addition as they work so well.
Bolivia closes out this four track EP and the band once again pick up the pace with another guitar driven track.
There is a real confidence to the track and the riffs are just so infectious - it is perhaps the most memorable track on the EP.
The Blueveils have put together a great collection of songs for this EP that showcases their laid back musical style as well as their strong song-writing ability - really looking forward to a full album.
