When I heard these boys were releasing a Christmas single I knew it was going to be a melancholy ballad reminding us about soldiers who are spending Christmas at war - something most of us forget about when are tucking into our turkey dinners.
A possible depressing Christmas number one for 2009?
In a bid to beat the X factor winner to the Christmas number one spot, The Soliders have released, 'A Soldier's Christmas letter' to appeal to the hearts of lonely wives and families missing their army-bound loved ones over the holidays.
The Soldiers are Sergeant Major Gary Chilton, Sergeant Richie Maddocks and Lance Corporal Ryan Idzi, all fully committed serving soldiers who have enjoyed chart success with debut album, "Coming home," released in October.
Although the album slipped into 15th place this week, The Solider's are hoping to tug on the heart strings of the British public with the Christmas ballad and regain their chart success.
Whether they're a match for the mighty X Factor Christmas single is debateable, with the last four years belonging to the X Factor winners, but I wish these men every bit of success.
The song will no doubt have people sobbing uncontrolably into their mince pies, especially those who are seperated from loved ones this year.
