Although the cover art of this single left me somewhat confused, I am pleased to report that my love for Scottish men is still very much intact thanks to these four young lads from Edinburgh.
Now anyone who is a fan of my music page will know how much I kiss the asses of Scottish bands at the moment, I don’t know what it is, I just love them and sometimes I actually wish I could swap my Barnsley accent for one from the North of the UK.
But anyway, I don’t just love them because they could be next door neighbours to Biffy Clyro, Hip Parade or Frightened Rabbit, oh no, I love them because they are bloody amazing!
The single, Quiet Little Voices is a great introduction to a band who have their debut album out later this year, and I’m convinced that this single will be the summer anthem for those of us too skint to be heading to a festival and instead opting to buy a throwaway BBQ and 2 litres of Strongbow from Asda and sit on the local park with your iPod plugged into some mini-speakers.
The B-side, Let’s Call This A Map adopts a riff not dissimilar from Biffy Clyro’s Bodies In Flight, and it’s quite different from the main song, but that doesn’t make it any less awesome, in fact, it shows that the guys are more versatile than you would imagine for a four-piece indie rock band.
All in all, I think it’s pretty obvious why these lads won their high school battle of the bands… hell they could even win X Factor!
