Voluntary Butler Scheme

Voluntary Butler Scheme

With an opening of woo woos and hand clapping, the new single from Voluntary Butler Scheme is fantastically casual, laid back, and reminiscent of any Sesame Street song.

Although his voice in general does not stand out amongst the current swamp of Indie music, it is certainly a gentle one, that makes you just want to squeeze his cheeks and pat his head. As a fantastically happy track, Multiplayer will undoubtedly leave you smiling after the full 3 minutes.

Rob Jones, the man behind the music, makes for an impressive songwriter who charms his way into our ears. And with a look that girls will go crazy for, best bet is to go get a glimpse of him whilst he’s still playing smaller venues.

Bonus track on the single, Alarm Clock, is, for a lack of a better word, really really cute. With an off-beat strum that would rival any Hawaiian hula melody, Voluntary Butler Scheme remains just as laid back and just as loveable as Multiplayer and although his lyrics aren’t as happy as the melody with lines such as “stop using my heart as a bagpipe”, he remains a refreshing addition to the Indie acoustic genre, lacking in the repetitive angst that comes with so many young new acts. After having no real releases before, except for those on the Myspace page, Voluntary Butler Scheme might not have a bold enough sound to break through into the mainstream just yet, but when they do, it’s likely they’ll be adored.
