Growing up, I had no choice but to listen to U2, as my parents owned every album under the sun, and I actually think they loved Bono, The Edge and the rest of their crew more than they loved me.
Okay, so that might be a bit of an understatement, but you get the picture. However, rather than growing up to despise the Irish rockers; somehow I’ve found a little place in my heart for them.
Although I was a little confused by Get On Your Boots, I mean, shouldn’t it be Put On Your Boots or something… there’s no reason for bad grammar just because you’re a rockstar Mr Bono… anyway, they have redeemed themselves in my eyes with Magnificent.
In all, it’s just another epic U2 record (they all sound pretty similar after all) that tells the story of two lovers holding on to each other and trying to turn their life into worship - ah, so that’s why Bono moans along in some twisted orgasm just before the chorus.
Rating: 4.5/5 - if you’re a U2 fan, you’re bound to love this song.
