The Wombats - My Circuitboard City

Okay, so I’ve never been a massive fan of bands that do that sort of talk-singing, you know what I mean… when they like talk in time to the music and sound wholly disinterested in what they’re doing. The Wombats are one of these bands.

The funny thing is though, I really like these lads, ever since I heard Kill the Director back in 2007 I had a penchant for these lads, and as they churned out hit after hit with Let's Dance to Joy Division and Moving to New York I knew that My Circuitboard City was going to be another musical delight.

So they don’t sound overly different from the other Indie bands that have followed in the footsteps of The Arctic Monkeys, yet at the same time, their catchy songs have gained them an army of followers who love Matthew Murphy, Daniel Haggis and Tord Øverland-Knudsen for what they are.

The song itself is a lovely mix of foot tapping drum beats and booty-shaking guitar chords… all belted out with passion and drive whilst the computer-ish noises fit perfectly with the Circuitboard City theme.

It’s shows a bit of a darker side to the band as they embrace a more post-punk sound with the help of producer Tore Johanson, who count the likes of The Cardigans and Franz Ferdinand as his previous successes,.

Whether you like this music or not, it’s good enough to catch the eye of former Beatles member Sir Paul McCartney who is hoping to produce their next LP so they must be doing something right!
