After significant airtime from MTV2, the trio from Leeds are set to release another single from the the album, The Golden Spike.
After their debut single Fossil, I received a modest fan base in the Indie community, their second single Beeline from their debut album is certainly due more credit and will most likely, snowball into an âitâ band.
Bursting immediately into the track, the most prominent characteristic of the song is front woman Katie Harkinâs voice. Not only sounding slightly like Bjork, yet a teeny bit like Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahâs and with an attitude that is reminiscent of Debbie Harry back in her Blondie days, her voice is aggressive but in an innocent manner that ties in nicely with their teenage angst and general youth.
Because of the young band members, and the energy that comes along with it, the offbeat vocals, deep funky base line and banjo-esque Indie strumming makes for a cleverly buoyant song that mirrors Million Deadâs approach to making music as well as their distinctive sound.
Itâs simplistic manner is oddly enough itâs best trait proving a catchy song difficult to rid from your head hours after listening. The track works easily and leaves you, after almost four minutes, wishing it were longer.
The single Beeline is due to be released on January 26th and album The Golden Spike will be available from February 9th.
