Ever since I heard their debut single, The Thrill Of Thirty Seconds, I have been championing Skint And Demoralised amongst my musical mates.
The second single to be released form their forthcoming album, Love And Other Catastrophes, This Song Is Definitely Not About You is yet another offering of melodic harmonies, a killer chorus and lyrics that tell the story of a fool who let the gorgeous frontman, 19 year-old Matt Abbot down.
Skint & Demoralised feature, pretty boy Matt Abott and a rather illusive bloke we refer to only as Mini Dog. But despite their rather depressive band name, they have managed to produce yet another summer-time anthem, despite the rather angry lyrics.
I feel like Iâve gone back in time to the days of Billy Elliot every time I listen to these guys, I love their âoooh ooohâ sections, the thumb-slapping bass-lines and the floaty way lyrics that Matt speaks out in a âI donât give a shit what you thinkâ way.
In fact, you almost feel like youâre in an advert for a DFS (the sofa shop) when you listen to these guys, because their anthems sound just like the kind of music youâd want to collapse onto the sofa and crank up after a hard day at the office.
Besides, if you donât like the music, you could just buy the track for their bizarre cover art, which features a dinosaur failing to frighten two old ladies as they have a good old gossip. I love it!
Iâm always going to love these guys because they hail from just down the road from me, and the with their niche following at the moment, they look set to grow like a rolling stone gathers moss.
Rating: 5/5 - another great, catchy song from these boys.
