Starting almost as if it were a clubbing anthem, with the amount of build up expected in a true ballad such as Eye of the Tiger, GMN is similar to that of the Walkmen's single The Rat, or She Wants Revenge's self titled album.
In fact, the continually self-deprecating yet upbeat track is not only a successful combination, but a catchy and unforgettable single. Glow is slightly more laid back but no less boring. Leaning more towards stoner rock than Indie rock, the lads make a bold move to produce two very different tracks on one single release.
Their distinctive haunting echoey voice is somewhat beautiful and works wonders next to the repetitive strumming that goes hand in hand. Musically very similar to that of Radiohead's earlier periods, the result makes for a very promising act indeed.
The Liverpool foursome shows an enormous amount of potential from only their first single. Considering they are new to the music scene, baby faced, with curls on their head that Razorlight's Jonny Borrell would be proud of, it is a near certainty we will be hearing more of Screaming Lights in 2009.
The double A Side single will be released on December 22nd by Anti Records.
