Although Rancid are highly regarded as one of the best punk bands of all time, I have to admit, I still don’t really ‘get’ Tim Armstrong.
Although everyone I know thinks he’s got an amazing voice - and yeah, it is unique - it just reminds me of a that bloke from The Pogues, sort of like his tongue is too big for his mouth or something.
To give them the credit they deserve though, last one to die is going to make a lot of Rancid fans very happy as they plan to unleash it as part of their first studio album in six years.
Although the album has a whopping 19 songs on it, I think the basic lesson I’ve learned here is that Rancid are a bit like Marmite - not that I think they should get Ronan Keating on vocals, but sadly, this seminal punk band just don’t do it for me… no matter how much I wish they did… so that I could be part of the ‘cool crew.’
My dress is attached to my bra with safety pins (so it doesn’t fall down) and I have tartan converse on though… does that count?
