I Want That is the second single to be taken from PSAPP’s album The Camel’s Back, which I am shocked to learn is like, their fourth album to date!
I know I’m not really up to date with my ‘experimental electronica’ bands, and after listening to this I can sort of see why I’m afraid.
Although the vocals are nothing short of sterling and are live an earful of sexy time; the mismatching of random trumpets, this ‘tiss tiss’ jazz sound that we all know and some weird bubble noises that sound like they’ve just been lifted from a little kids The Little Mermaid sound book just leave me altogether baffled.
What’s more, the ‘simple’ keyboard playing sounds like something that’s just strolled out of a Mighty Boosh rehearsal session as Vince and Howard try to hone their Futre Sailors sound. In face, Vince Noir would probably do a better job with these horrific sounds than PSAPP are.
Now I know there are many a kid who loves this band (otherwise they wouldn’t have been able / allowed to put out four albums and just as many EP’s since 2004. But bloody hell, since when did laying down as many sounds as possible become classed as music?
