Sticking to one genre is usually what keeps so many bands in one place, with one collection of fans, so when someone comes along with multiple influences, not only is it refreshing, but they make for great hits. This is one of those hits. Innerpartysystem are not afraid to mix thumping beats with solid melodies.
As they will be kicking off their UK tour this month, not only is Donât Stop a song to really get you pumped up for the gig but an amazingly catchy and energetic tune.
Originally, they released the single in June 2008, where it reached #153 in the UK charts, a great achievement for an unheard band. However, they were not happy and are re-releasing it with the hope of doing better second time around. And they can do it.
With a somewhat larger fan base in the UK now, the punchy tune is one that belongs up there with the rest and is likely to be played in a club near you soon.
Showing off what they can really do, Donât Stop is not only full to the brim with a drum ânâ bass backdrop but is fundamentally rock riffs and vocals full of teenage angst. The two gel so well that they are similar to that of the bigger names in this field such as The Prodigy. And Pendulumâs success in the past few years has certainly come from using this method; scrapping the formula and going with what works, no matter what sound it might be.
Similar to that of Hadoukenâs shouting dancy hits, Donât Stop is in fact better, and even though it didnât do as expected in the UK charts last summer, it did happen to earn the title for most requested song on music channel Scuzz.
If there were any indication on where it is being best received, this is it. Certainly likely to do well on their gig circuit, tracks like this, with enough airtime ,can eventually make it big. But for the time being, there should be comfort in the fact that theyâve released an amazingly powerful track that is impossible to take off repeat.
