Their live shows have been described as reminding older hands of the zealtory and ferment of Echo and The Bunnymen - debut single 'Running away' from Goldhawks see them attempt to burst onto the dawning London skewed-folk scene.
The west-London five piece have said that they are not in the business of half measures, nor are they interested in anxious, apologetic, half-baked landfill indie, it is evident that they are aiming for big music and serious guitar rifts.
Lead singer, Bobby Cook, has been bracketed alongside the likes of Laura Marling, Jamie T and Mumford and sons, stating his reason for making music in the first place is down to him having to, because, 'he's got no choice.'
The song is a contender for the newly shaped folk scene, but falls more dismally into the mainstream indie wave we are seeing so many self-proclaiming 'different' bands becoming victim of.
A good first song, but maybe not as big as people feel it is destined to be. Hopefully they'll be back with a second single with what was promised by the band - a big, majestic sound.
