Freeland - Do You

Freeland - Do You

Do You is the second single to be taken from Freeland’s new album Cope, which is shelved for release next Monday, and, after hearing great things about Freeland over the past month, I had high hopes.

The group, which features an all-star line-up of Kurt Baumann on vocals, Spinnerette and Distillers star Tony Bevilacqua on guitar and Twiggy Ramirez (Marylin Manson / NIN cohort) on Bass should, technically have everything they need to make a decent record… right?

Well, first off, I’d like to point out that Do You is nothing like a song you’d hear from the likes of Marylin Manson or Nine Inch Nails, so don’t go out and buy it simply for the Twiggy Ramirez elements.

However, as the lines between music ‘genres’ become increasingly blurry and rockers start to get into their drum and bass and dance music, and indie kids start to find themselves loving the nu-rave, neon scene, Freeland provides as happy medium, with a mix of dance and d&b on this five track single.

The original mix starts off a lot like Kernkraft 400’s Zombie Nation, but quickly comes into its own to drag out three and a half minutes of cool dance music, which brings some light relief to the influx of rubbish that seems to be dominating Radio One at the moment.
