Esser - Work It Out
Electronica seems to be the order of the day in many a music shop at the moment, and it looks like new kid on the block Esser is making the most of this bizarre trend.
His single Work Is Out isn’t overly ‘new’ or ‘fresh’ but it is a pretty good effort from this lad who has been compared to a cross between Jamie T and The Streets.
The electronic intro makes me feel like I’m on some kind of spaceship and being abducted by aliens who plan to do violent experiments on my brain. Gross!
The lyrics are pretty bland; “I have a habit of getting my foot stuck in my mouth, you are the only person I know who can help me get it out.†and Esser’s overly uninspiring way of delivering them also let the track down for me; I mean, I’m all about relaxing tunes, as well as ones that make me dance, but for me, this is none of the above.
I can’t really see it packing dance floors out anytime soon, but then again, that’s what the remixes are for right? And the three remixes on this single are perfect for that, and no doubt I’ll be eating my words and sashaying around my local nightspot with white wine in hand and grooving around to this is no time!
I mean with a spot on tour with Kaiser Chiefs and being names ad Zane Lowe’s “Hottest Record Of The Weekâ€; Esser must be doing something right along the way. I must have missed it.
