So first of all, Iâll have to admit that I never actually saw the original Minder series because, well Iâm too young, BUT , I have seen the adverts for the new remake on Channel 5 and I will be tuning in.
So anyway, if you wonder why Iâm banging on about Minder and not about Attic Lights then you clearly have no concept of what the relevance is here and might in fact think Iâm just planning my Saturday night television schedule!
Well Attic Lights have in fact covered the classic I Could Be So Good For You for the new series of the cult TV show starring Shane Richie, and I mean, the TV show couldnât get revamped without giving the theme a once over now could it?
So overall itâs what every good cover version should be; it keeps all the original quality that made it such a big hit in the first place, whilst the boys in Attic Lights still manage to stamp their own âcool indieâ vibe on it at the same time.
There are not very many bands who would attempt to cover such a huge anthem, and I imagine it took a lot of balls to go out and do it, but come on, would you like to see a capably band such as these do it, or someone like Girls Aloud who would have just ruined the whole shebang?
The single also comes with the track Late Night Sunshine which is taken from their album Friday Night Lights which should hopefully help them shift a couple more copies of the album as people who watch the show will (theoretically0 go out and buy the new theme single, hear Late Night Sunshine, appreciate what an incredible band Attic Lights are, and spend a few more of their hard earned pounds on their album.
One thingâs for sure, whether you like this song or not, youâre going to be hearing a hell of a lot of it over the next month or two, so itâs like they say; âIf you canât beat âem, join âem!â
