Yellowcard have returned in a big way with new single ‘For You, And Your Denial‘. Released as a teaser for upcoming album When You're Through Thinking, Say Yes, it’s already amassed over 45,000 plays in its first four hours. It’s also already hit the Number 9 spot in the UK Alternative Rock iTunes chart. I’ll admit to not having heard much of Yellowcard before this, but I’m definitely impressed. Starting with a great violin passage that carries most of the track, it kicks into a high-energy, pop-punk verse and chorus. It’s almost a disservice to call this pop-punk, because there’s a gritty quality to the production, excellently executed by producer Neal Avron. The result is a brilliant song enhanced by its production, the effect of which should never be underestimated. Yellowcard have been gone since 2008, but there’s no sign of rust with ‘For You, And Your Denial’. It’s almost a post-hardcore track with a bit more of a punk influence, and the resulting energy makes for a fantastic single. Musically tight, it’s got an accessible melody and solid lyrics that will lend it well to radio play. It’s the perfect track to get people excited for the new album, whilst pulling in new fans in time for its release. Female First - Alistair McGeorge
