Despite not being released for a few weeks yet, Noel Gallagher has got people talking with the video for this upcoming single 'The Death of You And Me'.
The video was released yesterday, and fan opinion seem weighted towards the feeling that this shows little progression from Noel since Oasis split three years ago.
In truth, this isn't a bad song, and will please Oasis fans more than Beady Eye did.
It just feels very safe, and has already drawn comparisons to 'The Importance of Being Idle'.
As Noel Gallagher looks ahead to his solo album, and his first release since Oasis split, this release shows no risk.
'The Death of You And Me' is a catchy song, but the brass interlude near the end is the only moment where this doesn't feel like a single by his former band.
If the album takes shape as a diverse record (Noel has already said there's a dance track on there), then this could be a nice moment for fans to remember his musical past.
However, as a stand-alone track, and the lead single from the album, one can't help but wish Noel had taken more of a risk.
Fans will probably buy it, and rightly so, but it doesn't show a great deal of ambition.
