The Audition have been regulars around the UK for the last couple of years. Touring with the likes of Alkaline Trio, You Me At Six, Madina Lake and playing on the main stage at this years Slam Dunk Festival its fair to say a lot of people have heard of these guys.
My assumptions were confirmed by the enthusiastic crowd response as the band hit the stage with first single from their latest release ‘My Temperature’s Rising’, and whilst The Audition could easily be pigeonholed into the pop-punk genre but upon closer inspection it is obvious these guys are doing some a little bit different, mixing a huge sound with a bass line that makes you want to dance.
What makes the band even more impressive to the regular gigger has to be the fact that they have been performing minus a guitarist since January of this year, making their 40 minute support set even more impressive.
I’ve got to be honest, it’s great to see a support band getting such great stage time, and The Audition plough through this with ease, checking off numerous tracks from their ‘Self-titled’ 3rd album which was released in April of this year and even chucking in a Katy Perry cover into their set for good measure.
The band make light work of ‘Warm Me Up,’ a firm favourite from their 2nd album ‘Champion’ and with a little help on vocals from openers ‘The Friday Night Boys’, The Audition close their set on a high with sing-a-long ‘Don’t Be So Hard’ from their debut album.
It is obvious that The Audition’s fan base is constantly growing every time they come to the UK and from tonight’s impressive performance this is of no surprise.
