I was disappointed to see that much of the crowd wandered off after Libertines' set and it was quite thin on the ground for Friday night's headline band Arcade Fire. Sadly I too was to blame for this as I had sulked off back to the Press Area in the hope of a cup of tea and to get warm.
Sadly the tea making machine STILL wasn’t plugged in so I opted to sit in the little media gazebo and watch the action live on the giant TV screen. Not quite the best place to be camped out when I'm reviewing a band, but I was ridiculously underdressed and knew if I stayed outside much longer I'd catch my death.
From what I could see, the fans who had hung around to watch the band got everything they'd been waiting for and were left with a warm fuzzy feeling in their tummies thanks to a great set to round out the first day of the festival.
As I trudge back to my car at the end of the set I saw fireworks going of and roars of delight from the thousands of fans behind me, ready to party the night away in the first of the all night silent discos.
Bring on Saturday.
