Carried by an impressive voice, Gravity Happens flows well as an album, despite feeling like a bigger risk could have been taken with its content.
Being in music before One Tree Hill certainly helps Kate escape the stigma associated with TV-to-music 'stars',
That said, the album does have the teen-pop sounds of the likes of Taylor Swift, with a bit of added swagger in the actual songs ensuring it's a step above its contemporaries.
The country influence in the music and Kate Voegele's vocals add a little something to an otherwise predictable album.
It sees the singer playing it safe, but still showing some undeniable talent with stunning vocals on tracks like 'Sunshine In My Sky'.
'Heart In Chains' provides an exciting moment for the album.
It sticks to the formula, but there seems to be an edge and rawness to Kate's vocals that's missing on some of the other songs.
Gravity Happens, as an album, doesn't provide anything unexpected, but it's harmless and better than most in its scene.
It doesn't break any new ground, but Kate Voegele has a fantastic voice that shines through the songs.
