Kasiuss are a band I have heard a load of folk in the music business mumbling about for a while now, and after hearing reports of a great set at Leeds and Reading festivals, I thought it was about time to check them out for myself.

Luckily for me, the band were due to play a gig in Harrogate over the festive season, and seen as my other half lives in the town (and is another human to have fallen under the Kasiuss spell) I thought we'd make a night of it.

Despite the fact the band were playing in a massive pub, you could only actually see them on stage if you stood in a certain place, which was already crammed full of uber-fans by the time we rolled in, so we settled down beside the bar and tried to bend our necks around a pillar to see what was going on.

After a while I gave up on actually trying to see, but I was informed that frontman Biz Denton was looking pretty impressive as he leaped about the stage, flinging his long hair everywhere and no doubt covering those screaming girls at the front in beads of his sweat. Nice.

Anyway, despite not being able to see anything, being too hot to function properly and needing to vomit pretty much all night, I was impressed by the set, despite a number of technical hitches along the way.

Kasiuss

Usually when I see a band who I have never listened to before (although Gareth did insist on listening to their EP all the way to Barnsley and all the way back again) I rapidly lose interest and wander off for a wee or to the bar, but this time was different, there was something enchanting about their set that kept my feet firmly where they were.

Kasiuss are a band that yes, the locals in their town are convinced they deserve to 'make it' because they know them well, but as an outsider, it's easy to see why so many people admire Biz, Joe, Jason and Adam - they're four guys making music that they love, and it's not just music you'd hear coming out of their parents garage, its awesome, well written music from a band who work harder than you could imagine and have the personality, humbleness and charm to go with it.

Kasiuss

I might not have understood the fascination with Kasiuss in 2010, but after seeing them on stage - surrounded by an awesome bunch of people - now I understand just why people enjoy them so much.
