Hyde & Beast is made up of Dave Hyde (from The Futureheads) and Neil Bassett (Golden Virgins) who are starting to create a buzz.
Debut single 'Never Come Back' gives a sign of things to come from the duo, which sees Hyde move from drums to vocals and guitar.
The influence late 60s and early 70s music had on the duo is clear from this mid-tempo track.
It's very atmospheric, with the only criticism being that it takes a while to go anywhere.
'Never Come Back' is a nice tune, with a melody that seems influenced from late-era Beatles.
It does reach some kind of climax with a build to a brass accompaniment, before dropping back down.
If their debut album is full of tracks in a similar vein, it may get tiresome.
However, 'Never Come Back' is a solid first track from the duo, and will create a great deal of interest in their album.
