Although largely unknown in the UK, Gabe Dixon has already gone some way in making a legacy for himself.
The Gabe Dixon Band had their song 'Find My Way' used in 2009 rom-com The Proposal, and in 2001 Gabe played keyboards on Sir Paul McCartney's Driving Rain album.
As of autumn last year, he was also a touring member of Supertramp.
To say that expectations were high for One Spark would be an understatement, but Gabe has crafted a fantastic pop record.
Listening to his debut, it's no surprise that he was raised on the likes of Elton John and The Beatles.
Gabe has a solid understanding of what makes a great pop-rock song, from relatable but personal lyrics to the catchy hooks that make each track memorable.
Lyrically, it could perhaps be sharper, 'My Favourite' being a song about writing a song for his wife. Not a bad idea, but not one that hasn't been done before.
However, the simple lyrics, charming vocals and warm piano parts give this a feel of a time when music wasn't about autotune and a hit single.
Tracks like the funky 'Running On Fumes' give the album a change of pace to keep things interesting, although Gabe's vocals more than carry it.
Gabe Dixon has crafted a beautiful album in One Spark, which should be the beginning of a brilliant solo career.
