I was a little bit dubious to say the least to learn that this CD was made up of ‘stripped back, acoustic covers’ of great dance anthems. Because surely what makes an anthem so great, is that it makes you tear up the dance floor like a overdrawn bank statement.
Surprisingly though, listening to this CD you learn that behind every club anthem, is in fact (for the most part) a really great song which, in this case, have been covered by great artists such as Rosie Gaines, Sam Obernik and Sweet Female Attitude.
The album itself if made up of hits such as Moloko’s Sing It Back, the massive summer smash by Rui Da Silva, Touch Me and the epic Missing by Everything But The Girl.
For anyone who is a bit partial to those ‘pure chill out’ or ‘chilled dance’ or one of the millions of other carbon copy compilations that seem to be advertised on the TV every week, this album gives something that little bit different, namely because you don’t have to be off your face to enjoy it, and it’s something that can really be appreciated by anyone with an ear for music.
