To tie in with the upcoming Alvin And The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked movie, the official soundtrack was released yesterday.
Honestly, this is akin to those films that are so bad, they swing all the way round to being hilariously good - which is probably what they were going for.
On a musical level, this really isn't great - hearing The Chipmunks and Chipettes give their takes on songs like Rihanna's 'S.O.S.' and Destiny's Child's 'Survivor' aren't that enjoyable.
This is a record that the kids will absolutely love, particularly on decent takes on 'Trouble' and 'Party Rock Anthem'.
It's one that will drive parents mad, and won't have any appeal further past the children the film's made for.
For what it is, it's actually quite hard to criticise it, but that doesn't mean we won't point out the record's absolute lows.
'Whip My Hair' sounds as bad as ever on Chipwrecked, even the charm of the Chipmunks not being enough to save this truly awful track.
One of the strangest moments of the soundtrack comes at the end, with a medley of 'Born This Way', 'Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now' and 'Firework'.
Undoubtedly a guilty pleasure, it's done surprisingly well and stands out as the most listenable songs on the album.
An odd choice for the tone of the soundtrack was the fact that not much (if anything) has been done to the backing tracks on these songs.
Rather than using this chance to really remix the hits and give something fresh, at times it's just the original song, with a Chipmunk vocal.
To be fair to Chipwrecked as a soundtrack, it's well-targeted to its audience and is a decent way to promote the film.
Despite a hit-heavy tracklist, however, it's unlikely to find any kind of wider appeal with parents or older siblings.
