The brother of the man who murdered rapper T.I.'s former assistant has been sentenced to 17 years in prison.

In December, Hosea Thomas, 34, was handed a 66-year jail term after he was found guilty of slaying 26-year-old Philant Johnson in a drive-by shooting in May 2006, following a disagreement outside a Cincinnati, Ohio nightclub.

Thomas' brother, Pardon, was also arrested following the gun attack, and testified against his sibling at the court case - admitting he drove the car from which Hosea Thomas fired the fatal shots.

On Wednesday, Pardon Thomas appeared in court again to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Sandra Beckwith. He was convicted of drug conspiracy and gun charges.

T.I., real name Clifford Harris, is serving jail time himself after stocking up on illegal weapons following the Thomas brothers gun attack. He claimed the bullets that killed Johnson were meant for him. The rapper was not hurt in the incident.
