Nas Explains All
After failing to show, the void in Torbay, Newfoundland in Canada which should have been filled by Queensbridge rapper Nas almost caused a riot.
The show which had been planned for months was unfortunately handled by promoters who Nas cites as ‘janky and strange.’ The rapper and his entourage were met at the airport once arriving in Canada by the promoters who failed to pay the rapper the agreed fee and who had also cancelled the accommodation for the I am rapper leaving him and his team stranded at the airport.
In a statement released Nas explained to those who promote concerts to take care to do business effectively "My advice to wanna be promoters anywhere they are, take business serious," he decreed. "Learn about being professional. Always. It's very important to be real with people. Don't continue to pull these 1950 style ways of doing business. Its wack!” Nas will however be appearing at the Rock the Bells Tour this Summer.
Kimora and Djimon welcome a son
Former wife of Russell Simmons, Kimora Lee Simmons and her current partner, actor Djimon Hounsou are proud to announce the birth of their first son on Saturday.
Kimora who heads up the Baby Phat clothing line gave birth to the son in Los Angeles over the weekend with the proud father in attendance.
Kimora already has two daughters with her former husband Russell Simmons, founder of Def Jam records with whom she divorced from earlier this year.
Tone Loc Released from Hospital
Eighties rapper Tone Loc, famed for the tracks Funky Cold Medina and Wild Thing was released from a Florida hospital this past weekend after he collapsed on stage.
Complaining of sever heat while performing on Pensacola Beach in the sunshine state the rapper lost consciousness and was rushed to a local hospital where he was treated and later released.
The temperature at the Capt’n Fun Beach Club where Tone Loc born Anthony Smith was no hotter than usual according to local news stations, but prior to collapsing the rapper had made various references to the heat.
Ma Dukes Clears up Dilla Estate
After various reports of the man handling of her son’s estate Mrs. Yancey, the mother of the late great J Dilla, more commonly known within in Hip-Hop circles as Ma Dukes, appears to have found the right folks for the job.
Talking to Hip-Hop site HipHopDX.com, Mrs. Yancey explained that her son’s production would be available for those who wanted to use it after legal battles with those handling the estate had been won and new people were in effect taking control of the catalogue of beats, the notorious producer left behind him.
The way in which the estate of James Yancey aka J Dilla was being handled came to light after an expose in Vibe magazine uncovered that Dilla’s two daughters and his mother had yet to receive a penny from their father/sons work, as was stipulated in his will. Now with a new California probate attorney residing over the estate it is expected that everything should be sorted out including any back tax by the end of this year.
Up until the article in Vibe was published the affairs had been handled by J Dilla’s former accountant and lawyer who were allegedly raking in the money yet failing to pass it down to those whom it was intended.
Dilla died in 2005 after suffering from Lupus.
