Rapper Max B has been sentenced to 75 years behind bars after a New Jersey judge found him guilty of murdering a hotel guest in a botched robbery.
The Harlem hip-hop star, real name Charly Wingate, was charged with felony murder along with his accomplice, Kelvin Leerdam, for shooting and killing David Taylor in September, 2006.
Wingate's girlfriend Gina Conway, who planned the robbery, testified against the rapper and Leerdam in court in Hackensack, New Jersey in June. Leerdam was handed a life sentence and an additional 35 years behind bars and Conway is facing an 18-year sentence for her part in the crime.
Prior to receiving his sentence, Max B had just signed a deal with Amalgam Digital Records and he was in the process of releasing his debut album, Vigilante Season. Max B also co-wrote Jim Jones' 2006 hit We Fly High (Ballin').
