In today’s Daily Rap we hear about DMX being behind on his tax payments, Lil’ Kim Faces a $20,000 lawsuit, 50 Cent sues a website for misleading his fans and B2K stars are eyeing a reunion.
DMX BEHIND ON TAX PAYMENTS
Rapper DMX has fallen behind on his taxes - he reportedly owes the state of New York $1.5 million in back payments.
The hip-hop star, real name Earl Simmons, and his wife Tashera allegedly had a tax lien filed against them by New York officials earlier this year, in addition to two claims for $33,457 and $370,460 in 2005 and 2006, respectively.
He also failed to pay a whopping $663,553 in income tax from earnings in 2002, 2003 and 2005.
DMX isn't the only rapper to be hit with a big tax bill - Nas, Method Man, Snoop Dogg and MC Hammer are also among the stars in financial predicaments.
LIL' KIM FACING $20,000 CLUB LAWSUIT
Rapper Lil’ Kim is facing a lawsuit from a London promoter after she axed six public appearances - amid allegations a nose bleed caused the cancellations.
The hip-hop star was due to make a string of appearances in the U.K. capital this month and was paid $20,000 by Abstrakt Visions Entertainment to be seen at a number of nightclubs.
But Lil' Kim was struck down with a nosebleed on Friday night (06Nov09), just a day before her first appearance on Saturday (07Nov09), and pulled out of the planned slots, according to TMZ.com.
The 34 year old then jetted back to the U.S., leaving the company without a star guest - and now bosses at Abstrakt Visions Entertainment are considering suing the star.
However, Lil' Kim's rep has defended her client's actions, alleging the real reason she pulled out of the appearances was because of the promoters' poor planning - insisting they failed to give her a proper schedule.
B2K SINGERS WANT FULL REUNION
B2K stars Lil’ Fizz and J-Boog have given fans of the R&B boyband hope of a reunion after inviting ex-members Omarion and Raz B to discuss reforming.
The Uh Huh hitmakers rose to fame in 2001 but disbanded just three years later to pursue solo projects. Lil' Fizz and J-Boog have since reunited in the studio to release songs together, but they're keen to bring their old pals back on board to launch a chart comeback.
J-Boog tells Sister 2 Sister magazine, "If it works out we wouldn't be against it. I think it would be fun. It would be good for the fans. All the true B2K fans that want to see us work together would be excited that we were doing something together." Lil' Fizz adds, "We're already at the table, we've got two more seats."
Omarion is the only member to achieve notable success as a solo artist with his hit albums O and 21 both charting high in the U.S. Billboard countdowns. He is currently working on his third full release, Ollusion, after signing a new deal with EMI Records.
50 CENT SUES WEBSITE FOR MISLEADING FANS
Rap superstar 50 Cent is furious after the editors a popular hip-hop website used his image without permission.
The In Da Club hitmaker, real name Curtis Jackson, is suing WorldStarHipHop.com over allegations his picture was plastered across the site's homepage, leading some readers to believe it was the star's own website.
50 Cent is taking the editors to court and has vowed to fight until they are broke. In an interview with an Atlanta, Georgia radio station, he says, "I got a lawsuit against WorldStar for utilising my likeness. A lot of people felt like that was my site because they saw my face on the cover of (the website) for a long time.
"I have lawyers on retainers and I have to pay them so much money anyway, so we'll go back and forth to court until (they) can't afford a Subway sandwich. It's already too late for (them)."
