Wayne looking at a year
Rapper Lil Wayne, one of the worlds most talked about rappers, pleaded guilty yesterday to gun charges.
The sentence stemming from this plea is expected to see the Cash Money Millionaire spend at least eight months behind bars. Wayne who has welcomed two new sons into his life this year and with another one expected opted to take a plea deal to avoid the possibility of spending up to three and half years behind bars.
The sentence stems from 2007 when he was arrested in Manhattan and found in possession of a gun after performing in the Hip-Hop Mecca.
Shyne Heading Back to Belize
After finishing his prison sentence last week after serving almost ten years, rapper Shyne, born Jamal Barrow, may be deported back to his native Belize.
The rapper who was involved in a shooting at a NY club back in 1999 which involved Sean Combs and his then girlfriend Jenifer Lopez, is currently being held while a decision is being made in regards to the deportation.
The rapper has strong support from a Harvard Professor, Charles Ogletree may have to fight for his right to return to the US from his native country.
Lawsuit Dropped Against Game
Rapper Game has struck lucky this week when it was decided that a lawsuit brought against the rapper be dropped.
The suit stemmed from an incident which saw the six foot three Compton native walking through a shopping mall in North Carolina with a Halloween mask on being filmed by members of his entourage.
The rapper was asked to halt the filming as it went against the rules of the shopping mall but a melee ensued which resulted in Game being arrested. The lawsuit was in fact filed by a police officer who arrested the rapper after they found that footage made of the arrest was featured on a DVD released by Game. The officer in question didn’t want his image used in promoting the DVD.
Coveted MC Releases New Book
Next month, legendary rapper KRS-ONE will be bringing to Hip-Hop advocates everywhere his new book The Gospel of Hip-Hop: The First Instrument.
The Bronx born rapper has been promoting the positive message of Hip-Hop since he started in the music business in the 1980’s. The PowerHouse book follows other publications such as The Science of Rap amongst others.
The Temple of Hip-Hop leader and founder has created an 800 word opus in this endeavor which is the first in a series of books known as the I am Hip-Hop series. The debut book from the series is said to be "a spiritual manual for citizens of hip-hop culture that combines classic philosophy with faith and practical knowledge."
