As this week draws to a close, the expected release of former Bad Boy rapper Shyne didn’t go as planned, Pharrell brings a woman on board, Jim Jones pleads guilty, Bounty Killer banned from Trinidad and former G Unit songstress hard at work in the studio.

Shyne still being Held

After serving nine years behind bars, rapper Shyne is still being held behind bars.  Shyne was handed a ten year sentence back in 2000 after he was found guilty of shooting at club goers in an NYC club while in the company of Sean Combs and his then girlfriend Jennifer Lopez.

Various reports had insisted that the rapper would be freed on Tuesday but he is still awaiting release and there is a possibility that the rapper may be deported to his native Belize.

Woman on Board

The male trip of N.E.R.D, the punkesque Hip-Hop collective founded by the Neptune production duo, Chad Hugo and Pharrell Williams along with Shay Haley has added a bit of flavor to the group, just in time for their next album Instant Gratification which will be hitting shelves early 2010.

Rhea, a singer from Toronto impressed the guys through an alleged Skype video chat audition and as the saying goes, the rest is history.

The addition of the songstress is expected to being a more ‘3D’ sound to the collective according to front man Pharrell Williams.

Jim Jones Pleads Guilty

After a brawl in the Louis Vuitton flagship store in NYC just before Xmas last year, rapper and Diplomat leader Jim Jones pleaded guilty  in an NYC court room this week.

The plea which differed from his original plea was to avoid being put on probation, which would in turn effect the rappers plans of going out on tour.

Jones was charged with misdemeanor assault for his attack on Javon Smith, the road manager of Neyo who was also present in the store when the attack took place.

Smith has filed a $7 million civil suit against Jones, the verdict of which has yet to be determined. Jones was sentenced to time served which he had carried out after the attack took place last year.

Bounty Killer Banned

Famed Dancehall legend Bounty Killer who is known for his outspoken lyrics has been barred from performing in Trinidad.

It is unclear as to why the Jamaican star is being denied entry to the Caribbean island but it could stem from him being charged with obscene language at a previous performance on the island.

Bounty Killer was turned away from the island when arriving via plane earlier this week.

Olivia Hard at Work

Former first lady of G Unit. Singer Olivia, is hard at work in the studio prepping her yet to be titled sophomore release.

Olivia, who was signed to 50 Cent’s G Unit imprint back in 2004 assisted the labels front man on track such as Candy Shop and Lloyd Banks Twist it but her album Behind Closed Doors which was due in 2007 failed to materialize and then news broke that the singer had been let go from the label.
