Black Girls Rock 2009
Mary J Blige and supermodel Naomi Campbell are just two celebrities who are being recognized at the fourth annual Black Girl Rock! Awards this year.
They organization which was founded by world renowned DJ Beverley Bond is a philanthropic organization which provides mentoring and arts program for teenage girls.
The celebs will be honored at the star studded gala taking place in Times Square on October 17th.
Pharoahe Monch Departs SRC
In a recent interview former SRC recording artist Pharoahe Monch has voiced his annoyance with the way in which former label home SRC, headed up by Steve Rifkind, handled the release of his critically acclaimed album Desire.
Due to these issues, Monch has now left the label and will continue to release music, including his next album through his own indie label, W.A.R.
Label boss, Rifkind, has yet to make a statement about the departure.
Its All Over
Only last week we informed you that Kanye West was heading out on the road with Lady Gaga for a three month tour of North America and Canada.
Well according the the promoters of the Fame Kills Tour, Live Nation, the show has been cancelled.
It is unclear as to why the plug has been pulled on the tour as ticket sales for the concerts which kicked off in November were exceptionally high.
Snoop Eyes First Signing
Rapper Snoop Dogg who was appointed the Creative Director of Priority Records, former home of N.W.A and Master P, has his eye on signing Oasis founder and lead guitarist Noel Gallagher to the label.
According to the West Coast icon, he is keen to sign a rock band and would definitely consider giving Noel Gallagher a home to record his solo album which he has talked about for quite a while.
Snoop is also slated to be releasing his tenth studio album in December on the label. Malice N Wonderland will see the rapper team up with producers such as Nottz, Dr. Dre, Pharrell Williams and the Dream.
