Closing out the week in style we have Game back at Interscope, Jay Z gets an extra push, Eminem lyrically assaults Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey and DJ Drama put on blast by Young Jeezy
Game Back Home
Having started out his career at Interscope with Dr. Dre and 50 Cent the major players in his emergence, West Coast rapper Game is releasing his next album The R.E.D at the Universal subsidiary.
Game was transferred over to Geffen after his public ousting from G Unit back in 2004, but it was revealed yesterday by the rappers manager, Jimmy Rosemond, that his fourth album which sees him collabo with Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Lil Wayne and more will be released through Interscope.
Game is also set to take on the role of B.A Baracus in the remake of the cult 80’s TV show, The A Team.
Blueprint I and II back on Shelves
To mark the release of Jay-Z’s net album, former label home Def Jam will be commemorating the rappers contribution to music by re-releasing Blueprint I and Blueprint II when the third installment hits shelves on September 11th this year.
Blueprint III which has the Hip-Hop industry buzzing is being released through Atlantic records and will be Jay Z’s first release since departing Def Jam earlier this year. The Brooklyn born rapper was also President of the Def Jam label for three years working with artists such as Ne-Yo and Rihanna when they signed to the Hip-Hop power-house.
Eminem goes In
After being criticized for his accent and his new ‘sound’ Eminem has gone back to his roots after a diss tracked aimed at Mariah Carey and her husband Nick Cannon hit the net yesterday.
The three have been embroiled in a lyrical feud since Eminem mentioned the multi-platinum singer and her husband on a track on his Relapse album. Since Pipes of Baghdad surfaced, Mr. and Mrs. Cannon have denounced the rapper for his comments.
However Eminem who was romantically linked to Mariah Carey back in 2001 felt the need to address the situation in the track Warning. Allegedly the Detroit rapper was spurned on by the recent release of Mariah’s new video for Obsession which mirrors scenes from Eminem’s Stan video which was released in 1999.
End of an Era
IN a recent interview with XXL magazine Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy spoke out about the recent rift between him and once associate DJ Drama.
The mixtape DJ was responsible for putting out various mixtapes with the Def Jam rapper which were very successful but while talking to the US based Hip-Hop publication, Jeezy explained that DJ Drama changed and explained what happened between them.
Young Jeezy explains in the interview how the Philadelphia born DJ/producer changed and was excessive in his demands from those people including Young Jeezy, who had supported him during his emergence. “I didn’t charge that ni**a for [contributing a verse to the song “5000 Ones,” on Drama’s official Atlantic Records debut].
But then when I need [a tape for one of my artists], and you want to charge me $20,000?… I’ll slap the shit out of Drama. He knows that. He wasn’t loyal. But me putting my hands on that man ain’t gonna make him respect what I’m saying. I’m just not gonna f**k with him anymore,” Jeezy explained.
