Jay-Z Responsible For Minaj's Thicke Appearance

Rap newcomer Nicki Minaj has Jay-Z to thank for her guest spot on Robin Thicke's new single Shakin' It For Daddy, because the hip-hop mogul thought she would be perfect for the song.

Soul star Thicke was playing his new album Sex Therapy to Jay-Z in a bid to convince him to appear on the disc, and when the rapper  heard Shakin' It For Daddy, he advised Thicke to pursue Lil Wayne's protege Minaj to get her to rhyme on the track instead.

Thicke explains, "It's a crazy story. I was in the studio playing the album to Jay-Z, trying to get him on the album. So we're playing the record and I put on Shakin' It For Daddy and he goes, 'You know who you need to put on Shakin' It For Daddy? It's Nicki Minaj.' So it was Jay's idea to put her on the record."

Rap Group's Crew Escapes Freak Death By Minutes

Three Swollen Members crew workers are lucky to be alive after the rap group's tour bus was struck by a train in Colorado earlier this week (begs14Dec09).

The vehicle the band's entourage was travelling back from Canada to the U.S. in became stuck on a railway crossing on Tuesday (15Dec09), reportedly due to lack of traction.

The crew panicked when railway lights signalled a train was speeding towards them, but they narrowly missed certain death and escaped before the high speed carriage rammed into their bus.

Tour manager BJ Smith tells AllHipHop.com, "Everyone is lucky to be alive. Everything happened so fast we didn't have time to do anything but get off the bus.

"From the time the bus got stuck to the second the train impacted it was under three minutes. As soon as we heard the railway barrier go down, we could hear a train was coming, so we literally had 45 seconds to get off the bus and get as far out of the way as possible.

"If anyone else would have been on the bus with us they would have been dead because there wouldn’t have been enough time to wake them up and get off the bus."

Hip-hop group Swollen Members were not on the bus at the time of the accident - they had caught a flight out of Canada a few days before.
