Candy Says are an Oxford four piece lo-fi chic pop band, sounding like a garage band recording a version of an electro band playing Velvet Underground songs.
New single 'Favourite Flavour' is their debut physical ltd. edition coloured cassette tape release on Cool For Cats ( Fight Like Apes, Thomas Tantrum, Mercy.). This is the follow up to their free download self release 'Melt The Sun' earlier this year which was favorably received in the blogosphere and by BBC Introducing.
Previously being signed to Universal/Island as 'Little Fish', lead singer Juju Sophie is determined to do things her own way, so Candy Says recorded the entire upcoming album in the garage of her bungalow with two microphones and recreated modern sounds, loops and beats using vintage organs and guitars.
It's pop, but with a real focus on the finer intricacies of the music, which boasts complex arrangements to keep the sound fresh.
On stage, old and new sounds blend with Juju's powerful vocals to create an intricate and inviting live show.Already booked in for the summer festivals: Dot To Dot, Big Brill Camp ,Lodestar and an upcoming support with Gaz Coombes formerly of Supergrass this is a band that should be on your Ones To Watch list ...
Candy Says are : Ju Ju Sophie ( lead vocals/guitar),Elisa Zoot (vocals/percussion),
Ben Walker (organ) , Mike Monaghan (Drums).
Favourite Flavour is released 20th May.
