Synth-pop sensation Lights will return to the UK this August for a trio of live dates. To coincide with the shows, Lights will release the new single ‘Second Go’ on August 30th on Warner Bros. Records / Sire.
Taken from her Juno Award nominated album ‘The Listening’, ‘Second Go’ weaves Lights’ emotive lyrics into her dreamy electro-pop sound that permeates through the album’s unique intergalactic atmosphere. ‘Second Go’ is accompanied by an innovative promo video that evolves into a fascinating multi-coloured experience.
Having previously played select UK headline shows as well as dates with Owl City, Example and Ou Est Le Swimming Pool and three Dot To Dot festival performances, Lights will return to these shores for a brief round of gigs in August. After headlining London’s Water Rats on August 26th, she’ll play the Leeds and Reading Festivals on August 28th and 29th respectively.
Lights’ recently released the new EP ‘Lights. Acoustic.’ in the States where it debuted in the Top 15 on US iTunes. It features three acoustic interpretations of songs from ‘The Listening’, the first official release of the track ‘Romance Is…’ and a stripped down interpretation of Rancid’s ‘Fall Back Down.’
In addition, Lights also recently made a special guest appearance in a new episode of The City, a spin-off show from the MTV hit series The Hills. The episode will be broadcast in the UK on Sunday August 1st at 9.30pm.
Already a Top 10 hit on both the Canadian album and the Billboard Heatseekers charts, ‘The Listening’ includes all of Lights’ homeland hits to date, including the MuchMusic #1 hit ‘Drive My Soul’, the #3 track ‘February Air’ and her UK introductory single ‘Ice.’
Like Michael Bublé, Nelly Furtado and Feist before her, LIGHTS already has a Juno Award for New Artist of the Year to her credit and has also collected two Canadian Radio Music Awards. ‘Drive My Soul’ featured in hit MTV reality show The Hills, while Old Navy used four of her songs in their major spring 2008 promotional campaign.
Lights’ online profile is pivotal to her fast growing success. With over 24 million MySpace plays, Lights far exceeds plays generated by artists such as La Roux, Little Boots and The Saturdays. She is also a prolific YouTube uploader and her videos there have received 14 million streams.
