Sugababes need little introduction. The UKâs most successful girl group have sold over 2 million singles, hitting the top spot in the UK no less than 6 times. Theyâve sold more than 5.5 million albums (including 3 triple-platinum discs in the UK) and have amassed more Top 10 singles than the Spice Girls, All Saints, Destinyâs Child or Bananarama.
Never scared to take risks with new sounds and producers, Sugababes have teamed up with relatively unknown producers Si Hulbert and Melvin Kuiters for Traxstarz to bring you their new single Girls which is based around a sample of Ernie K Doeâs classic soul-funk anthem Here Come The Girls. The ebullient new single sets the tone for the bandsâ sixth studio album which will be released on 20th October.
In the last year Sugababesâ soaraway success saw them topping no less than 4 charts in one week (single, album, download and compilation). They were the first British act to top the singles chart on download alone with About You Now. They topped the bill at the glittering Swarovski Fashion Rocks event at the Royal Albert Hall, where their blistering version of Lady Marmalade was performed with the great Patti Labelle and introduced by Whitney Houston. Theyâre held in such high esteem by those in the know that they got invited to dinner with Nelson Mandela and shared the great manâs table with Gordon Brown, Bill Clinton and Oprah Winfrey.
A show-stopping live act with a spine-tingling combination of soulful vocals and sophisticated glamour, Sugababes have performed to over a million people in the last year alone and continue to wow not just pop fans but also festival crowds which saw them performing this year at Oxygen and Isle of Wight, with the V Festival to come later this month. Sugababes will debut their new single Girls live at their headline Q Awards show at the Forum on 1st October.
Sugababes, unlike their pure pop peers, mean something to people. Push The Button, Freak Like Me, Overload these were era-defining records that transcended the boring stuff about units shifted and celebrity.
