Twenty-year-old singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Steve Appleton will release his second single ‘City Won’t Sleep,’ the follow-up to debut ‘Dirty Funk,’ on August 10.
Taking inspiration from an array of genres including Pop, Rock, Funk and Dance, Steve Appleton has an ear for tune, an eye for an incredible live show and single handedly wrote and produced his entire album. His second single ‘City Won’t Sleep’ is an up-beat, well-written track that contains a strong rhythm and a catchy chorus that is destined to be a summer anthem. A song all about a one-night extravaganza in a far-away city Steve wrote whilst travelling Europe.
His debut single ‘Dirty Funk,’ which was added to the Radio 1 Upfront List and was supported by the likes of Capital and Galaxy, gave people the perfect introduction to Steve Appleton; a bright, young, up-coming star who’s debut album ‘When The Sun Comes Up’ is a true breath of originality. It’s an album based around genuine life experiences, singing about everything from funky venues to one night stands and travelling the world.
Steve was born and raised in Surrey, and from the age of fifteen was playing piano in a swanky Soho eatery performing his own material and covers from the likes of Elton John to Frank Sinatra, “It was a great first step to performing for the public” Steve recalls. The day after signing his record deal with RCA he disappeared inter-railing for a month before knuckling down to finish his debut album whilst his friends went off to University. Since then Steve has furthered his travels with publicity shoots and shows in Miami, LA, Shanghai and Cape Town.
In the last year he has also performed alongside the likes of John Legend, The Saturdays and Alesha Dixon, and will be supporting The Pussycat Dolls in July and Kanye West (as part of Wireless festival) this Summer. He will also be performing at festivals from Glastonbury to Hard Rock Calling.
Steve Appleton’s second single ‘City Won’t Sleep’ will be released on August 10 followed by his debut album ‘When The Sun Comes Up’ on 24rd August.
