He first stunned the country on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, then astounded the world when he sang at Michael Jackson’s funeral in front of over a billion people; now 13 year old megastar-in-the-making Shaheen Jarfargholi will release his eagerly-awaited debut single on November 22nd through Island Records.
The double A-side single, ‘Last Train Home’/‘Hip Teens’, gives us a glimpse of what Swansea schoolboy Shaheen has been working on since he was catapulted to global stardom overnight following his jaw-dropping performance at the King of Pop’s memorial service.
Both tracks offer something different, showing Shaheen’s incredible talent and versatility as an artist: ‘Last Train’ is an original string-soaked ballad with a nod to an era gone by, handled with such staggering maturity and authenticity you’d think it was actually straight out of the Motown vault. While the brilliantly energetic ‘Hip Teens’ sees 60’s dance floor soul updated for a new generation, a cover originally released by neo-northern soul ensemble Frank Popp. Together, they look certain to make Shaheen one of this year’s biggest new recording artists.
‘Last Train Home’/‘Hip Teens’ are taken from Shaheen’s forthcoming album, a mixture of classic but rare 60s soul covers and original material, due to be released in November. Since signing to Island Records in May, Shaheen has been busy working on the record in the US with superstar producers including Jerry Wonda, Igloo & TC, who have worked with the likes of Ludacris, Whitney Houston, Black Eyed Peas, Backstreet Boys, Estelle and many more. In the UK, he has been working with big names such as Jimmy Hogarth and Martin Terefe, who have previously worked with Amy Winehouse, Duffy and James Morrison to name just a few.
He’s already garnered praise from an awesome array of music and entertainment heavyweights including Motown founder Berry Gordy, Stevie Wonder, Larry King, Oprah Winfrey, Simon Cowell and of course the Jackson family, as well as MJ’s countless fans across the globe. The rest of the world will surely follow.
