20-year-old Scottish singer-songwriter Rachel Sermanni consolidates her growing reputation as one of folk’s bright new things with ‘Eggshells’, the next single to be released May 14th on Rachel’s own Middle of Nowhere Recordings
Written by Rachel and produced by Ian Grimble, ‘Eggshells’ is a beautiful, deft experiment in folk-led chamber pop and a song which builds layers of softly sculpted sonics to create a swell of feeling.
It marks the next stage in the journey for the talented instrumentalist whose artful lyricism almost belies her tender years.
Rachel launched her foray into the world of singer-songwriting at the start of the year with debut EP ‘Black Currents’ and garnered support across BBC Radio - from sessions for R1 Introducing to R2’s Dermot O’leary - as well as topping the Coalition Singles Chart for two weeks.
She has captivated audiences at her live shows - including the Union Chapel back in January, The Lexington in April and at Oran Mor in Glasgow in May.
With numerous festivals confirmed for the summer - Summer Sundae, Secret Garden Party and Larmer Tree so far - and a debut album in the pipeline for autumn, Rachel is set to be a firm fixture on the new music horizon.
