Swedish Band Oh Laura to take the UK by Storm

With their debut single, Release Me already boasting phenomenal Swedish chart success, as well as underpinning the Saab international TV ad campaign, Oh Laura will give UK audiences the chance to relish their lush musical talent as Release Me sees its UK release on 26 May. Plus, with their gorgeously seductive album entitled, A Song Inside My Head A Demon In My Bed, hot on its heels for 2 June release, Oh Laura are sure to be the must have play throughout summer 2008.Oh Laura are a 5 piece officially formed when songwriters, Jocke Olovsson and Jörgen Kjellgren, met with singer/songwriter, Frida Öhrn and immediately knew that her uniquely enchanting and alluring vocal style would fuse perfectly with their sound. Shortly after bassist Rikard Lidham and drummer Magnus Olsson were recruited to the band. Oh Laura immediately set about writing, recording and performing live, from which a loyal following rapidly grew. At this point the band grabbed the attention of independent label, Cosmos based out of the recording studios of the same name and the birthplace of so much Swedish pop from Roxette to Robyn. The band were signed and spent the rest of the summer recording their debut album, A Song Inside My Head A Demon In My Bed.
And it was when Release Me came to fruition that things got exciting. The song was intoxicating and raw and the success that followed was astounding. As well as being included on the Saab international car ad, which was seen by 240 million viewers and resulted in over 50,000 downloads from the SAAB UK website alone*; the track also shot to No.1 on iTunes within a week of release, became the most downloaded song in Scandinavia in 2007, and reached No.1 on Tracks (Swedens biggest national radio chart show) and No.2 in the national singles chart. Added to which, Release Me was awarded accolade of Song of the Year at both the SMFF* and P3 Gold*.
The band went from strength to strength and commanded attention across Europe, including recording sessions for Dermot OLeary and Bob Harris on Radio 2. The latter was so taken aback by the bands vocal uniqueness that he said, It sounds like a whole life has been lived through Fridas vocals. The Oh Laura buzz has been snowballing ever since and the total visits to myspace and youtube are now in the millions.
Oh Laura are now set to captivate British audiences as Release Me is planned to be unleashed in May this year, quickly followed by the album, A Song Inside My Head A Demon In My Bed. Additionally, Oh Laura are performing the title track - co written by Sir Tim Rice who is a big fan of the band - to new British movie, The Waiting Room, starring Ralf Little and Anne Marie Duff.
