New Kids On The Block

New Kids On The Block

New Kids On The Block are probably the only band that could get away with calling their new single ‘Single’. This will be the band’s second single since reuniting earlier in the year and comes out through Interscope Records on November 10th.

Single is an ode to jilted or lonely girls in need of comfort and companionship and was co-written by Ne-Yo who also provides vocals alongside Jordan, Jonathan, Joey, Donnie and Danny on the song.

Single is taken from The Block, the first NKOTB album in over 10 years, and one which features appearances from some of the biggest names in pop music today.

Other collaborations include Grown Man with the Pussycat Dolls and uber producer Teddy Riley, Put It On My Tab with Akon, Big Girl Now with NY electro-pop diva Lady Gaga and Full Service with their musical heroes New Edition.

New Kids On The Block will be playing the following dates in January 2009:

In the late Eighties and early Nineties, brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood created a cultural phenomenon, selling over 70 million albums as well as countless concert tickets, t-shirts, lunchboxes and fluffy slippers all over the world.

Their repertoire included the back-to-back international number one albums, 1988’s ‘Hangin’ Tough’ and 1990’s ‘Step By Step’, and a series of R&B-pop hit singles like ‘You Got It (The Right Stuff)’, ‘Cover Girl’ and ‘Step By Step’.

After capturing the imagination of teenage girls around the world, New Kids On The Block parted ways in 1994 but critics concede they defined a genre, with bands like the Backstreet Boys and N’Sync using their template of what a ‘boyband’ should be.
