The irrepressible Melody Gardot returns to the scene with the stunning new track and video ‘Mira’, taken from her third album ‘The Absence’, released May 28th on Decca.
A heartfelt document of her recent global travels, ‘Mira’ was written by Melody and produced by world-class guitarist (Simply Red, Seal, Sting) and film composer Heitor Pereira (Despicable Me, Its Complicated, From Prada To Nada).
The video was filmed by renowned video director Aaron Platt in Rio de Janeiro. Melody was so touched by the people she met when scouting locations for the shoot, she wanted to be able to give something back.
She took the local children under her wing, giving them starring roles in the video and donated instruments to their school.
"To experience love in a different way, to understand what love is in a community is to recognise how people really hold themselves together," says Melody on the experience.
"It was a huge shift for me, it bought me close - especially in Brazil - to people who celebrate through music."
Swept along by a hypnotic samba rhythm, Mira is a warm number with a heart of gold.
‘The Absence’ is the follow-up to Melody’s 2009 critically acclaimed international bestseller ‘My One and Only Thrill’, which went double platinum in France and Sweden.
