Martha Wainwright returns on July 14th with a brand new single: ‘You Cheated Me’. Produced by Brad Albetta and written by Martha herself, ‘You Cheated Me is the second single to be taken from her critically acclaimed sophomore album ‘I Know You’re Married But I’ve Got Feelings Too’.
Equal parts raw conviction and damaged vulnerability, the track sees Martha struggling to come to terms with a partner’s infidelity, charting the journey from disbelief to anger with impressive accuracy. From the woozy, plucked opening to the cathartic chorus, You Cheated Me’ is Martha at her unflinchingly honest best.
Once the Wainwright clan’s best-kept secret, Martha’s assured songwriting and candid delivery have pushed her firmly into the limelight, with captivating performances at the Royal Festival Hall and on ‘Later… with Jools Holland’ serving to underline her rising star status.
Fresh from her recent quartet of concert hall dates, Martha and her band will now tour various European capitals before returning to the UK for the Glastonbury and Latitude festivals.
