Jamie Parisio is a singer/songwriter who has drawn comparisons with the likes of Nick Drake, Ray Lamontagne and Jeff Buckley.
Inspired by artists ranging from Bob Dylan to Neil Young and The Shins, he taught himself to play the guitar aged 14 and fronted hard-rock band Fluid before embarking on a solo career.
His first EP, ‘You Promised Me The Sea’, attracted instant attention from Xfm with DJ Mary Anne Hobbs making it her ‘Game Changer’ (Record of the Week) and lead track ‘Tangles Never Tire’ reached number 1 in the Music Response Chart.
‘You Promised Me The Sea’ was released on April 30th 2012 on Spearhavoc Records.
Conceptually ‘You Promised Me The Sea’ is a combination of Americana-infused folk and classic storytelling with the odd unashamed nod to country music.
However, where the songs differ is in Jamie’s ability to inject the most ridiculously infectious melodies into each and every verse and chorus, his truly unique voice highlighting the sonic peaks and troughs of each offering with sublime harmonies and aching fragility.
Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers/Idlewild/Sound of Guns) mixed the EP and it’s his fearless approach, along with Jamie’s desire to never be lost in the sea of fence-sitting artists, which has led to this brave collection of songs peppered with haunting strings, pulsating Hammond parts and dark piano chords.
Make no mistake, these are pop songs and proud to be so and once you’ve heard them, they won’t leave you alone.
