Fresh from performing before an audience of billions at Live Earth, James Blunt is back. Three years after the international smash-hit LP Back To Bedlam the best-selling album of the millennium he returns on September 3rd with his eagerly anticipated new single 1973, the first track to be taken from the keenly awaited All The Lost Souls. Recently Radio 2s Record of the Week, 1973 is a hook-laden gem with invincible melody. Available on 2-track CD, 7 vinyl and Maxi CD, each format includes brand new bonus material. The 2-track CD features the striking B-side Dear Katie; the new track So Happy appears on the 7 vinyl, while the Maxi CD boasts the official video, plus a live version of the album track Annie. Recorded in Los Angeles, both the single and album were produced and mixed by Tom Rothrock, who oversaw Back To Bedlam. For me, there was absolutely no pressure whatsoever, says James. Having sold over 11 million albums, I know that the likelihood of doing that again is really minimal. "Instead of setting that as a target, I set out to do and record something that I really enjoy, that Im really happy with."Truly instantaneous, All The Lost Souls boasts several road-tested favorites, including 1973, Same Mistake and the dazzling track I Really Want You.
Back To Bedlam held the UK Number 1 spot on the UK album chart for a remarkable nine weeks, while Youre Beautiful also topped the singles charts for five weeks.
James became the biggest-selling artist of 2005 in the UK, earning two prestigious BRIT Awards.
The LP also went on to hit Number 1 in 16 territories around the world, and ranked at Number 1 on the European Top 100 Albums chart for over two months. Two World Music Awards and an MTV Europe Music Award followed.
